About

What?

GeekLanka is a site to bring Sri Lankan geeks together. It doesn’t matter what field you’re in: IT, engineering, scientific research, chemistry, or whatever: if you’re a Sri Lankan geek, then we want you to join our community!

Who?

Professionals and enthusiasts, students and teachers, employers and employees: make this site your own! Join the GeekLanka forum and ask questions, find answers, and meet new people.

Why?

Sri Lanka’s geek community is talented and diverse. But we have no means to join together and share our collective knowledge. A united Sri Lankan geek community means a better training ground for young geeks, and ultimately a better Sri Lanka tomorrow! Let’s all join together and build an online community where people can share thoughts, emerging technologies can be discussed, and new ideas can be developed.

How?

GeekLanka is made up of two main areas: the Home page is a blog syndicator. It shows the latest posts from a group of Sri Lankan blogs that write on tech-related issues. If you have a Sri Lankan tech-related blog that you would like to be added to GeekLanka’s blog syndicator, contact us and we will add it. If you don’t have a blog but you want one, why not visit wordpress.com or blogger.com to get a free blog of your own?

The second area of GeekLanka is the forum. This is a bulletin board area where anyone can join and discuss any issue at all with other GeekLanka members. Questions can be asked, new skills can be learned, ideas can be formed, and meet-ups can be organised. There is no limit to what you can do with the GeekLanka forum, so go ahead and join now! Once you’re a member, you’re a part of the community, and GeekLanka will become what you make it.

By?

GeekLanka was created by some guy called Yo and a few of his friends, all of whom should have been studying/working instead of creating this! We’re a group of IT enthusiasts who want to bring all the amazingly talented Sri Lankan geeks together, to harness our collective power, and allow younger Sri Lankan geeks with a place to ask questions from more experienced individuals. GeekLanka is a 100% free effort. This website will be free to access forever, and we’re not looking to make any money out of this. We just want to provide the geek community with a place to communicate, that’s all.
